Laser Hair Removal

Whether for hygienic or cosmetic reasons, women and men who are tired of temporary, often painful methods of removing unwanted hair on the face, back, legs or other body areas may welcome laser hair removal with relief. Lasers produce highly focused, intense beams of light. Dark pigments in the hair follicles beneath the skin's surface absorb this light and convert it to heat, destroying the follicles and preventing hair growth for up to two years. Multiple treatments are required for complete hair removal. Treatments are needle-free and do not require anesthesia. Most patients feel nothing more than a slight sting like the snap of a rubber band. It is possible that some hair will grow back, though it is usually finer and lighter than what was originally removed. There may also be some redness and swelling following the procedure.

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology uses high-energy pulses of light to provide long-lasting results. IPL skin resurfacing, collagen stimulation, vein therapy and photoepilation improve skin texture and appearance and remove hair from any area of the body without damaging nearby tissue. Hair, veins or pigmented regions on the skin surface selectively absorb the pulses of light, shrinking or fading after treatment; collagen tightens, smoothing the skin. Patients can return to work and all regular activities immediately after the procedure. Skin appearance should improve soon after treatment. Hair loss is immediate and long-lasting. Several treatments may be desired for optimal results.

Spider Vein Therapy

Spider veins, or telangiectasias, are small, thin, blood vessels visible beneath the skin. Spider veins are caused by a variety of factors, including heredity, pregnancy (and other conditions that involve changes in hormone levels), weight gain, long periods of standing, and certain medications. They often appear red or blue, and because they form on the face, thighs, calves and ankles, many patients are bothered by the way they look. Others seek medical treatment for uncomfortable symptoms such as aching, burning, swelling and cramping. The standard treatments for spider veins are sclerotherapy and laser or pulsed light treatments.
