What to expect from treatment

Smoothshapes treatments are very comfortable. You will generally feel a gentle warming of the skin and a feeling similar to a deep tissue massage. It is a relaxing and pleasant experience with no down-time. Immediately after treatment you skin may appear slightly pink and feel a little warm, which resolves from 15 minutes to a couple of hours after treatment. You can resume normal activity immediately after with no restrictions.

Microdermabrasion removes the topmost layer of skin to give patients a smoother, younger look. The DiamondTome™ Wand aids in this exfoliation process by gently removing the skin cells with tiny diamond chips and vacuuming away the excess. Advantages of the DiamondTome™ System over traditional (particle) dermabrasion and chemical peels are no loose particles, no irritation, no skin reaction, and no contamination of you or the environment. Patients see an improvement after the first treatment; four to ten sessions are typically required for optimal results. Regular activities may be resumed immediately.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion improves mild to moderate sun damage, scarring, wrinkles and other superficial skin problems. A gentle stream of tiny particles exfoliates the outer layer of skin and provides a fresh, glowing, younger appearance. Only a small amount of skin is removed, so sensitive areas such as the face, chest, neck, arms and hands can be treated. Results are comparable to a light chemical peel and should be immediately visible. Microdermabrasion is often performed in conjunction with other skin renewal procedures, such as laser treatment and chemical peels. Multiple treatments are recommended for full effect.
