Cosmoderm™

Cosmoderm™ is an injectable filler approved by the FDA to smooth wrinkles and rejuvenate the face by mimicking the natural effects of collagen. Collagen is a natural protein produced by the body that provides support and elasticity to the skin. As we age, collagen production decreases and the skin may begin to loosen and sag. 

Cosmoderm is a dermal collagen filler that is injected directly into the collagen layer of the skin, just below the skin surface. The injected substance fills unwanted lines and wrinkles and restores the borders of the lips, creating a defined, youthful, and natural looking appearance. Local anesthetic is used before the injection to prevent any potential discomfort that may accompany this procedure.

The results of the Cosmoderm procedure are visible immediately and may last anywhere from three to six months. Multiple treatments can be performed, and are recommended for most patients in order to maintain the rejuvenated appearance. Patients are able to return to work and other normal activities the very same day, as long as no complications are present.

This treatment does not require pre-treatment skin testing, since the injection consists of a natural body substance. However, Cosmoderm is not for everyone, and should not be used on patients with known allergies to lidocaine or with a history of serious allergic reactions.
