my acne is driving me crazy

The Mirror Moment

my acne is driving me crazy.

02 / The part you might not say out loud

The Fear Is Real

I am an adult. Why is this still happening?

Acne is not proof that you are dirty or failing at skin care. Persistent, painful or scarring acne deserves a medical assessment, including the products and treatments you have already tried.

The Surgeon’s POV

Yes, I have a teenager’s skincare review.

My son uses the one for acne and is responsible for the link below 🤪

The mask in that post is an LED mask. That is a story about my son’s experience, not a promise that the same device will clear everyone’s acne.

Breakouts first. Then what they leave.

Active acne, lingering color changes and indented scars are different concerns. Treating ongoing breakouts can help prevent new scars while a separate plan addresses existing marks.

Acne may need prescription treatment. Lights and procedures can be part of some plans, but they should not replace diagnosis or be sold as a cure for everyone. Read about acne treatment.

A few questions.

The things people ask.

I am an adult. Why do I have acne?
Acne can persist into adulthood and has several contributing factors. It is not proof of poor hygiene. Persistent, painful or scarring acne deserves medical assessment.
Does BBL help active acne?
Light or laser treatment may be part of selected acne plans, often alongside other care. Improvement varies; it is not a cure for every type of acne. AAD information on acne and light treatments.
Can tox treat acne?
Skin-quality uses of neuromodulators are off-label and should not replace standard acne assessment and treatment. Discuss the evidence, alternatives and risks rather than assuming they are first-line acne care.
What about the scars?
Treat active acne while discussing the type of scars or color changes left behind. Different scars may need different approaches, and no procedure promises completely unmarked skin.
